Patreon Voter Pick Winner for November 2018 – No Use Crying

“Let’s play with backgrounds,” I said. “It’ll be fun,” I said. Thank goodness Clip Studio Paint’s environment brushes are so nice, otherwise I woulda kicked my own ass for this.

Still, a lot of fun! Kind of trying to lean back into the flow of larger/longer/comic-esque images. I think it came out well!

It seems like only yesterday I drew WiiFit Trainer exercising Link in her mouth when a new Smash was announced, but it turns out that was five years ago…and last week!

A fun re-draw for the five year anniversary of one of my favorite pieces. I couldn’t be prouder of the result. It really goes to show how I’ve developed over time. I really did my best to capture the original essence and composition as well, while applying my improved technical, anatomical, and spatial know-how.

Merry Hyrule Warriors-mas! Again! I’m so glad this won the poll, as two years later the sketch still held up well enough to get colored.

Trying a few things to “lighten” my art, like saving the black mat for more elaborate pieces, and much more simplified backgrounds. Think it worked well here.
